John Carroll earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts, Painting at Southwest Missouri State University in 1976, and has been painting landscapes and cityscapes for over thirty years. His paintings are featured in various galleries, as well as in numerous corporate and private collections.
His compositions balance the elements of the landscape in a pure and simple way. Through his masterful use of color, and attention to detail, we are reminded or roads walked and places visited. "Nature is the greatest teacher and instructor in the artist's work". As many songs are sung of the beauty of a summer day, or the peaceful stillness of a winters snow, John's paintings lie a life of their own.
When asked of his personal philosophy as an artist, John quotes Thomas Merton. "The mind that responds to the intellectual and spiritual values that lie hidden in a poem, a painting, or a piece of music, discover a spiritual vitality that lifts if above itself"
